What it does
GearDex keeps one record for each camera body, lens, filter, drone and accessory you own: serial number, photos, what you paid, what it's worth now, condition, where it's stored, and the receipts and warranty files that go with it. If something gets stolen or you need to file a claim, the details are already in one place, and Pro exports an insurance PDF.
You don't have to type everything in. Smart Add turns a plain sentence or a photo into gear records for you to check, and CSV import has templates for each gear type. Every plan can export a full backup as ZIP, JSON or CSV.
Shoot plans hold locations, call sheets, checklists, weather, and sun, moon and tide times. On Pro you can build packing manifests from the gear you actually own. Iris, the built-in assistant, answers questions about your kit and checks lens mount compatibility, and it doesn't change anything without your OK.
Starter is free for up to 25 items. Pro is $39 a year and Studio is $179 a year, which adds loans, maintenance, an availability board and team workspaces. There's no trial. GearDex runs in any modern browser and as a Mac app (Desktop 1.2.0, macOS 13 or later). I'm Dylan, a photographer and developer in Irvine, California, and I built it to keep track of my own kit.
