How the comparison works

Each column is an independent scenario. Prices, fees and example customer counts are illustrative inputs, not market recommendations. Use one currency throughout.

Revenue, margin and profit

Revenue is the discounted selling price after revenue refunds and excluding sales tax. Gross profit subtracts direct delivery costs. Contribution subtracts payment fees and allocated acquisition costs. Operating profit subtracts monthly fixed costs; operating margin divides that profit by revenue.

Billing, refunds and taxes

Annual subscription revenue and payment fees are divided by 12. One fixed payment fee applies per billing period. Fees are calculated on the checkout amount including sales tax. Refunded revenue is removed while original processing fees and direct costs remain. Sales tax is treated as collected and remitted, and excluded from revenue.

Break-even and target pricing

Break-even volume rounds fixed costs divided by contribution per customer or sale up to a whole number. Target-profit volume also covers the entered profit goal. Target-margin pricing solves for the list price before the entered discount at the current volume. “Not achievable” means those assumptions cannot produce the requested outcome.

Use estimates with your own records

Enter costs in the period indicated. Acquisition cost is allocated evenly over the chosen months for subscriptions and applied per sale for one-time products. The estimate does not model churn, timing of cash collection, business income tax, financing, chargeback fees or extra costs you have not entered.

Questions about this calculator

Is the calculator free?

Yes. No account or payment is required. Calculations run locally in your browser.

Does annual billing show monthly profit?

Yes. Annual payments and fees are divided over 12 months for a comparable monthly estimate. Cash collected upfront is different.

Are these official Stripe or payment-provider rates?

No. The prefilled fees are illustrative. Enter the rate and fixed fee from your own provider agreement.

Is sales tax included in revenue?

No. The model treats entered sales tax or VAT as collected and remitted, and excludes it from revenue. It assumes payment fees apply to the full checkout amount.

How is customer acquisition cost handled?

For subscriptions, CAC is spread evenly over the months you enter for each active customer. For one-time sales, CAC applies to each sale. This is a planning allowance, not a cash-flow report.

Where are my inputs saved?
